BELÉM (PA) – Federal Deputy Delegate Caveira (PL), from Pará, was reported in a petition filed on May 3 after entering the premises of the Chamber of Deputies armed. On social media, next to Caveira, Belém City Councilor Zezinho Lima (PL) appears holding a 5.56mm caliber rifle, while the deputy holds a .40 caliber pistol, which led Deputy Rogério Correia (PT-MG) to urgently request the seizure of the weapons possibly kept in the office of the congressman from Pará.

“I submitted a petition to the president of the Chamber, Hugo Motta, requesting that the weapons displayed by Deputy Delegado Caveira in his office be seized,” said Correia in a post on social media. “It is unacceptable to carry firearms, of restricted use, within the Chamber premises. This violates the security rules of the House, constitutes an affront to the Board and to all deputies,” he added.

The report comes after a video was released showing Caveira and Zezinho, both followers of the ideas promoted by former president Jair Bolsonaro, advocating for the right to bear arms for so-called “law-abiding citizens.” The footage was recorded inside the National Congress, as the deputy himself indicated.

According to Rogério Correia, the presence of heavy weaponry in an institutional environment such as the Chamber represents a real threat to security. “These unauthorized weapons are a risk to everyone who frequents the House of the People, which was already violated by bolsonaristas on January 8,” he pointed out. The PT deputy also reported the incident to the Parliamentary Ombudsman’s Office, requested the opening of proceedings in the Ethics and Parliamentary Decorum Council, and forwarded the case to the General Attorney’s Office (PGR).

Contacted by CENARIUM, Deputy Delegate Caveira responded with criticism toward the request made by his opposition party colleague. “While a communist deputy wastes time requesting search and seizure over something he doesn’t even understand — talking about ‘rifle and pistol inside Congress’ — why doesn’t he demand truly legitimate actions against those stealing from retirees and against the PT gang, which is once again looting Brazil?” the deputy wrote.

“I’ve been a police delegate for over 14 years, I fully understand firearm legislation. I am responsible for each of my actions,” he added.

In a provocative tone, Caveira also suggested other issues that, according to him, should be prioritized: “Report the shameful theft against the elderly at the INSS. Question why leftists refused to sign the Amnesty bill, which seeks to free hundreds of Brazilians unjustly imprisoned. Demand to know how the communists will vote on the creation of 14 new federal deputy seats — more positions, more expenses, and more burden on the citizen’s pocket.”

CENARIUM requested a statement from the presidency of the Chamber of Deputies, but there has been no response so far.
