MANAUS (AM) – Amazonian journalists Pâmela Eurídice and Camila Henriques have joined the Online Association of Female Film Critics (OAFFC), an international association that brings together journalists and film critics from various countries. In addition to the professionals from Amazonas, three other Brazilian women also joined the association.
The OAFFC is considered one of the most important organizations in film criticism. The organization is dedicated to upholding the integrity of online film criticism and fostering the growing field of women in the industry. The association celebrates and recognizes notable achievements in cinema through its annual “Best of the Year” awards, and also offers professional networking opportunities for new members.
Pâmela Eurídice holds a degree in Journalism and a master’s degree in Society and Culture of Amazonas, both from the Federal University of Amazonas (Ufam). The journalist is a member of the Brazilian Association of Film Critics (Abraccine) and Elviras – the Women Film Critics Collective.
Eurídice also created the podcast “Visões Femininas,” the web series “Ícones do Cinema Amazonense,” and authored the book “Olhar Feminino: O Norte na Direção.” She is also the organizer of the collection “Cine Set e a Crítica Cinematográfica no Amazonas – Um Novo Capítulo.”
“At first, I felt joy, gratitude for the entire journey that led us to this moment. It is a recognition of the work we have been doing in film criticism in Amazonas and also a recognition that there are people writing about cinema here in our state. I’m very happy to have reached this point alongside my friend Camila, to have our work recognized by this association,” Pâmela told CENARIUM.

The journalist also reflected on another point — the women who gave up writing due to lack of encouragement. “It also brings a bittersweet feeling when I think about how many women could be writing but, for some reason, gave up on their careers because they had no one to support their dreams,” she added.
Camila Henriques has been working as a critic since 2014. She is a member of the Brazilian Association of Film Critics (Abraccine), of the Elviras Collective, and is a Golden Globe voter. Speaking to CENARIUM, the journalist emphasized the importance of the international association and her gratitude for being part of the team.
“I truly believe in the power of associations and am very happy to be among critics I deeply admire and colleagues whose work I got to know after joining the OAFFC. For some time, being a woman in film criticism was a somewhat lonely experience for me, especially since there are so few of us here in Amazonas. It’s incredibly rewarding to be part of projects that give us a voice, that care about what we have to say, especially in a field that is still very sexist,” she shared.

The OAFFC’s membership selection process is similar to that of other associations, such as the Golden Globe and Critics Choice, where it is necessary to submit recent works and provide a statement on how one views contemporary film criticism. In total, the Online Association of Female Film Critics has 139 members.
