BELÉM (PA) – Civil police denounce the Government of Pará for the lack of fuel in vehicles, stating that the fuel cards were found blocked on the morning of Monday, 31 March. The category considers the situation a reflection of poor public management and plans to hold sectoral demonstrations on 3rd and 4th April at the headquarters of the General Delegacy of Civil Police of Pará, in the Nazaré neighbourhood, in Belém.
The mobilisation, however, does not constitute a strike. In a video circulated on social media, representatives of the category clarified that, by law, civil police cannot officially cease their activities, but emphasised that the lack of fuel prevents the force from working, resulting in a practical halt of activities.
“Attention, people of Pará and civil police of the state of Pará. They are saying that the civil police of Pará will go on strike. It is a lie. We will not strike because we cannot, by law. But the Civil Police of the state of Pará are at a standstill today. Not due to the fault of the staff, but due to the mismanagement of the state government,” declared delegate Flávia Leal, president of the Association of Delegates of the Civil Police of the State of Pará (Adepol), stressing that the standstill occurs due to the blocking of the fuel cards.
Civil police state that the standstill is not motivated by a union movement, but rather by the lack of public management. “Today the cards that refuel the Civil Police vehicles of Pará were all found blocked. What is happening, Mr Governor?” questioned delegate Antônio Benone, president of the Union of Delegates of Pará (Sindelp).
The president of the Union of Public Servants of the Civil Police of the State of Pará (Sindpol-PA), Ednaldo Santos, also commented on the case: “We are going to hold sectoral demonstrations. And the first will be at the General Delegacy. However, as delegate Flávia rightly noted, we are not going on strike. The police, on their own, have been at a standstill for some time. And today they have come to a complete halt. Not due to the movement of trade unions, but rather due to a lack of management.”
Police emphasise that the lack of fuel directly compromises the public security service and represents a lack of respect for both the professionals and the population. Without vehicles in circulation, the response to incidents is impaired, directly impacting the security of the people of Pará.

On the morning of this Tuesday, 1st, Ednaldo Santos reported that civil police are gathered at the General Delegacy after being urgently summoned. “We apologise for not being able to adhere to our scheduled visits to the sectionals, as we were urgently called for a meeting with the Secretary of Public Security and the general delegate to discuss our demands. After the meeting, we will deliberate and pass on further information. Stay tuned, as the movement remains active, and we will release new updates at any moment, both from me, president of Sindelp, and from the president of Adepol,” he stated.
CENARIUM requested a statement from the Government of Pará regarding the case, but received no response. In a statement, the Civil Police of Pará (PCPA) indicated that “the fuel supply system for vehicles is operating normally, with no interruption to activities.”
