The Government of Amazonas performs from the 14th to 25th of June 2021, in virtual format, the Amazon Bioeconomy Investment Innovation Forum (F2iBAM). The event will be held through the State Secretariat for Economic Development, Science, Technology, and Innovation (Sedecti).

The Forum is a joint initiative with the ‘A Concert for the Amazon’ network, which brings together the nine States of the Legal Amazon around a common agenda aimed at sustainable development in the region. As of this edition, F2iBAM becomes a permanent annual event, integrating the Legal Amazon Green Recovery Plan calendar to be presented at the meeting.

F2iBAM seeks to discuss innovations in the bioeconomy to build a convergence space, on the one hand, of information about the enterprise, projects, programs, and, on the other, investment sources.

“We are happy to lead this event, which will be extremely important for the Bioeconomy in the Amazon region, and to be able to share this initiative with the Legal Amazon Interstate Sustainable Development Consortium. Amazonas has countless potentials for Bioeconomy markets and, if it depends on the State Government, we are going to encourage production chains and bring more development to our interior”, pointed the Amazonas’ governor, Wilson Lima.

Bioeconomy

For the head of Sedecti, Jório Veiga, the initiative is an excellent opportunity to dialogue with potential investors and show the countless possibilities for investments in productive chains of the bioeconomy in Amazonas.

“We have several market potentials in the bioeconomy in Amazonas, such as chestnut, where we can reach a larger share of the international market. It is worth remembering that, recently, the Government of Amazonas signed an agreement with the Ministry Agriculture, Livestock and Supply of R$ 2.2 million, which will be implemented in actions to strengthen the production chains of Brazil nuts, native guarana and wild pirarucu”, pointed Jório Veiga.

The InovaSocioBio project will benefit around 7,500 agro-extractives and their community enterprises, in addition to extension technicians, associations, and producer cooperatives.

F2iBAM

F2iBAM is the result of a partnership between the A Concert for the Amazon initiative and the Legal Amazon Interstate Sustainable Development Consortium, which seeks to provide a space for exchanging information on projects, projects, and programs to rethink funding sources capable of boosting the economy green as a new development matrix. Amazonian biodiversity has been presented as a key to fostering economic models capable of adding value to the standing forest and generating prosperity for local communities.

For the F2iBAM audience, researchers, specialists, entrepreneurs, investors, public managers, and civil society representatives are expected, who will meet virtually to debate the paths for creating new financing mechanisms for businesses linked to the Amazon bioeconomy.
