In AM, owner of Vitória Supermarket is suspected of having an Army sergeant killed and is a fugitive

MANAUS – The Civil Police of Amazonas fulfilled, on the morning of Tuesday, 21, six search and arrest warrants related to the death of the Brazilian Army sergeant and owner of a coffee shop, Lucas Ramon Silva Guimarães, 29 years, who was shot dead on September 1st. The main suspect of being the mastermind behind the crime is the owner of Supermercado Vitória, one of the largest supermarket chains in the state, Joabson Agostinho Gomes.

He and his wife Jordana Azevedo Freire are being searched for by the police. The suspect is considered a fugitive, since there is a warrant out for his arrest.

According to information passed on to CENARIUM, the general manager of the supermarket in question was also taken by the specialized police to provide explanations. A firearm had been located in the branch of the establishment located on Avenida Torquato Tapajós, Flores neighborhood, south-central zone of Manaus.

Understanding the case

Lucas was killed with approximately three gunshots to the head. The crime occurred in a coffee shop located on Ayrão Avenue, Boulevard Alvaro Maia, neighborhood Square 14 de Janeiro, south of Manaus.

The victim was in the place when a man entered the establishment posing as a customer, asked for a coffee, and then pulled a gun and shot the victim in front of other employees. Lucas was still able to be rescued and taken to the Hospital Santa Julia, but he died.
