In Manaus, singer from Amazonas is shot dead in front of family

MANAUS – The Amazonian singer Igor Moreira, 29, was murdered with 20 shots fired by armed men who invaded the residence where he lived in the Colônia Santo Antônio neighborhood, North Zone of Manaus, on Wednesday, 4. In the house, were his wife and 5-year-old son. Igor and fiancee had just arrived from the city of Manacapuru, distant 68 kilometres from the Amazonas capital.

According to information from the Military Police (PM), the singer and his fiancée were arriving in a black car, Astra model, when they were approached by suspects in a white vehicle montana. The Department of Scientific Technical Expertise (DPTC), during the investigation, found that the artist was killed with shots in the thorax, back and arms.

At the time of the approach, Igor Moreira’s neighbours reported that the men who invaded the singer’s house asked if he had money, but he replied that he didn’t have any. The Mobile Health Service (Samu) was called, but Igor died on the spot.

On social networks, family and friends lamented the death of the artist with farewell posts. The musician’s Instagram shared his performances and some records with the family. “Rest in peace”; “May God receive you with open arms”; “How did they do this to you?“, were some of the comments left on the singer’s profile.

After the expertise, the victim’s body was removed to the Forensic Medical Institute (IML) where it will undergo examination. The crime will be investigated by the Specialized Police in Homicide and Kidnappings (DEHS), which will ascertain the motivation of the singer’s death.
