BOA VISTA (RR) – The abandonment of roads and vicinal roads by the Government of Roraima showed once again that the main highways need immediate maintenance. This Sunday, 12, in Caroebe, South of Roraima, a truck overturned after a wooden bridge could not withstand the heavy rains of recent days in the region.
Residents of the region reported to CENARIUM MAGAZINE, that rural producers are the most affected by the abandonment of roads in the state, since they have no way to drain their production. “We are isolated, we can’t sell our production, we ask for urgency, it is becoming impossible to work like this”, said a farmer who preferred not to be identified.
The farmer recalled that during the election campaign the governor of Roraima, Antonio Denarium (Progressistas) promised to recover the most abandoned roads and highways of the state. “If from the beginning of your term you had done what you said in the video, if you had planning this would have been less worse and let’s work because so far nothing has been done and the term is already ending”, he said.
About the accident with the truck, nobody was injured. Caroebe is one of the twelve municipalities of Roraima that declared a state of emergency because of the floods and heavy rains in the region.
BR-210 closed
The Federal Highway Police (PRF) reported on Monday, 13, that a stretch of KM 61 on BR 210 was blocked on the stretch between Caroebe and Entre Rios. Teams from the PRF and the Military Police were in the region.

Roads and promises
In October 2020, Denarium promised investments in the municipalities of São Luiz, São João da Baliza and Caroebe of R$ 1.5 million in recovery works of vicinal roads and bridges.
In a statement, the Government of Roraima said that a Civil Defense team is in the municipalities of Caroebe, São Luiz and São João da Baliza conducting surveys of all roads and vicinal roads and that, because of heavy rains over the weekend, some vicinal roads in the municipality of Caroebe were damaged. Vicinal 08 was one of them.
The Civil Defense team that is in Caroebe is preparing a technical report that will be forwarded to the Seinf for maintenance of the vicinals, roads and bridges damaged.
