In the AM, ‘ostentatious mayor’ announces Wesley Safadão concert in Rio Preto da Eva’s anniversary

MANAUS – With a Human Development Index (HDI) municipality below the national average, Mayor Anderson Souza (Pros), known by the population of Rio Preto da Eva as “mayor ostentation”, announced on Friday, 11, that the municipality will receive the shows of singers Wesley Safadão and Léo Magalhães for the festivities to celebrate the anniversary of the city, celebrated on March 31.

The national artists usually charge a fee, respectively, of R$ 450 thousand and R$ 220 for a performance. So far, there is no information available in the city’s official journal about the amounts paid to the artists.

“To close our event with charm, with joy, with distraction to this wonderful fair, Wesley Safadão will be present with us. We made the understanding, since last year, and we managed to leave defined that Wesley Safadão would be in Rio Preto on the 3rd, on Sunday”, declared the mayor, in a statement live on social networks.

Anderson Souza is known as the ostentatious mayor for promoting parties and hiring national artists to perform in the municipality of Rio Preto da Eva. According to him, the singer Israel Novaes will also be present at the event on Friday, the 1st.

Léo Magalhães, who was scheduled for the city’s anniversary in place of singer Joelma, ex-Calypso, will perform in Rio Preto da Eva on March 31, 2022. The shows will take place in a structure set up on the city’s main beach.

The fees

Considered one of the main artists in the country and one of the biggest names in country music, Wesley Safadão also has one of the highest fees in Brazil. According to the economy magazine Isto É Dinheiro, the former vocalist of the group Garota Safada earns, on average, R$450 thousand per performance.

The artist, born in Fortaleza, Ceará, conquered Brazil when he decided to break away from the band. In his solo career, Wesley Safadão has a series of hits, such as the songs “Depende”, “Eu Já Tava Bem”, “Fala Mal de Mim”, “Ele Não Te Merece” and “Revoada”.

According to the portal Repórter MT, Léo Magalhães’ concert costs R$ 220,000 for a 1h30 performance. For example, in December 2021 the City Hall of São José do Xingu (1,200 km from Cuiabá) hired the artist for the same price.

Rio Preto da Eva

Located 79 kilometers from Manaus, Rio Preto da Eva has an estimated population of 34,856 people, according to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The town stands out in agriculture, cattle breeding, fishing, aviculture, vegetal extractivism, tourism and for the large orange crop, which also gives the town the name of “Land of Orange”.

Despite the economic diversity, the municipality has a Human Development Index (HDI) of 0.611, a number considered average, but below the national indicator of 0.711. In other words, the quality of life of the population of Rio Preto da Eva is below the Brazilian average.
