MANAUS – Icon of Brazilian music, known for revolutionizing the female sertanejo, the singer Marilia Mendonca, of 26 years, received tributes from famous in social networks on Friday, 5, after the tragic plane crash that killed the artist and four people, in Minas Gerais. The sertanejo singer who “broke the internet” during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic in April 2020, by having the most viewed live in the history of YouTube, leaves a one-year-old son and feelings of longing all over the country.

Wesley Safadão, a personal friend of the artist and with whom he shared stages on several occasions, said he was in mourning. On social networks, the singer wrote that Marília Mendonça’s star will shine forever and wished condolences to the family and friends of the victims who were on the plane. “Your star will shine forever, rest in peace Marília Mendonça. My condolences to the family and friends of everyone who was on the plane”, Wesley Safadão posted on Twitter.

The comedian and TV host, Danilo Gentili, declared to be deeply sad and that it was always a pleasure to toast and play with the singer. On social networks, the host published images of him with Marília Mendonça, toasting with glasses of draft beer, during one of the editions of the program “The Noite, com Danilo Gentili”, from SBT.

Devastated, comedian Tirulipa stated that he is not believing the accident. “I can’t believe Marilia Mendonça died, people. My God. Say it’s a lie, my God, please. Our queen of suffering”, wrote the artist, in shock, on social networks.

Luísa Sonza, pop singer and one of Marilia Mendonça’s best friends, blurted out in a post on Twitter that she is destroyed. Together, the artists released the music video “Melhor Sozinha” less than three months ago.

The youtuber and influencer Felipe Neto also lamented the death of the sertanejo singer. On social networks, the artist spoke of the loss of Marília Mendonça and that the artist made history. “What a tragedy, what sadness, what a loss. The deepest feelings to families of all the victims of this terrible accident. Marília Mendonça, you have made history. There are no words”, Felipe Neto lamented on Twitter.

The soccer player Neymar Jr. Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Brazilian national team striker, also mourned the death of Marília Mendonça. The athlete wrote, in a post on Twitter, that he refuses to believe the tragedy. On the anniversary of 2019, Marília – a personal friend of Neymar – made special surprise and sang “Happy Birthday to you”, both emotional.

Following a successful path at the age of 26, the young singer started composing songs at the age of 12 and collected hits all over Brazil, such as “Infiel”, “Supera”, “Ciumeira” and “De quem é a Culpa”.

In the midst of the new coronavirus pandemic, a period that made people all over the world change their own routine to adapt to the new challenges of the planet, Marília Mendonça played a show apart. The artist, at a time when it was not possible to have concerts with the public present, because of the crowds, had the most watched live in the history of Youtube.

The singer broke the world record for simultaneous viewers in a live on the platform, reaching a peak of 3.2 million people at the same time on the night of April 8, 2020, at a time when broadcasting concerts over the Internet was still becoming a trend.

At the time, the artist’s performance surpassed the number of simultaneous views of the country duo Jorge and Mateus, who had reached 3.1 million simultaneous viewers during a concert aired on YouTube, also in April last year, on the 4th.

In May 2019, Marília Mendonça held the recording of the DVD “Te Vejo em Todos os Cantos” with an apotheotic show at Largo de São Sebastião, Centro de Manaus, in Amazonas. On the occasion, 60,000 people accompanied the show, considered to this day as the artist’s record.
