MANAUS (AM) – Members of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Amazonas (Aleam) will discuss on Tuesday, 13, in Public Hearing, the recovery of the two bridges over the rivers Curuçá and Autaz Mirim, which collapsed in September last year, within the State, on federal highway BR-319.
The session, which takes place from 10:30 am, at the headquarters of the State Legislature, will be attended by the superintendent of the National Department of Transportation Infrastructure (Dnit) in the State, Luciano Moreira. The objective is to define the schedule for the works.
“We are already in the middle of the year 2023 and, so far, nothing concrete has been presented to solve this problem, which has caused a lot of inconvenience,” said the president of the House, Deputy Roberto Cidade (União Brasil). The parliamentarian articulated the meeting with the head of the agency.

After the collapse, the population of these localities are being directly affected. In response to CENARIUM MAGAZINE, the Amazon Association of Municipalities (AAM) said that the president of the entity, Anderson Sousa, will not attend the debate. He meets agenda in Brasilia (DF). The advisory highlighted that the vice president, Roberto Frederico, should represent him.
Remember the case
The bridge over the Curuçá river, located at KM 23 of BR-319, collapsed on September 28, 2022. The bridge was located in the municipality of Careiro da Várzea and the collapse of the structure left four dead, one missing and 14 people injured. Two weeks later, on October 8, the bridge over the Autaz Mirim River, at KM 25 on BR-319, also collapsed, but no one was injured.
In 2023, the Dnit, the federal agency responsible for maintaining federal highways throughout the country, signed a contract worth more than R$24 million for the construction of the bridge over the Curuçá River. However, the agency has not clearly defined the schedule for the works.
