MANAUS – A newborn baby, male, was found abandoned inside a cardboard box in a vacant lot in Paxiúba Street, Santa Etelvina neighborhood, North zone of Manaus, on the night of Thursday, 15, day in which the state passed through a cold front that made the thermometers mark 20°.

According to information from the police report (BO), military police officers from the 26th Community Interactive Company (Cicom) were called to attend a case of abandonment of an incapacitated. A woman, identified as Solange Mara do Carmo Alves, 22, found the baby in a vacant lot.

The witness informed that she was passing by the place when the motorcycle she was riding presented mechanical problems. When she stopped, she heard the child crying and saw him wrapped in a blanket, dressed in baby clothes, inside a cardboard box.

The police took the baby to the Azilda Marreiro Maternity Hospital, on Avenida Samaúma, Cidade Nova, also in the North Zone. At the health unit, it was found that the baby had been born less than three hours before. The child was admitted to the hospital under observation. The police are looking for the mother of the newborn.
