MANAUS – The mayor of Borba (150 kilometers from Manaus), Simão Peixoto (PP), decided to solve the political differences with a critic of his management in an unusual way. In the event “Fight with us”, held in the city, Peixoto entered the ring to face the former councilman Erineu Alves Da Silva in an MMA fight. After successive punches and kicks, the mayor came out the winner of the dispute.

The event started on Saturday, 11, but the main fight only took place in the early hours of this Sunday, 12, in the court of the State School Gilberto Mestrinho. The confrontation had three rounds and was watched by a lively audience. At the end of the fight, broadcast live on the mayor’s social networks, Peixoto said he accepted the “challenge” of his main opponent to encourage sports in the city.

In the images of the broadcast, it is possible to see the public crowded in the place and not wearing masks. The Health Surveillance Foundation – Dr. Rosemary Costa Pinto (FVS-RCP) said it will ask for clarification about the event. As of December 15, events with more than 3 thousand people are suspended in Amazonas, after a decision from the Government of Amazonas’ Covid-19 Committee.

In September, former councilman Erineu Alves da Silva, also known as “Mirico”, published a video criticizing the mayor for the poor conservation of the city’s bathhouse. After the denunciations, the former councilman called Peixoto to “beat him up”. The head of the municipal executive reacted and challenged the opponent to a fight.

At the time, Peixoto even published a video showing the preparation for the fight:
