At diplomation ceremony, Wilson Lima defends the electoral process and commits to health and education

MANAUS – The re-elected governor of Amazonas, Wilson Lima (União), and the vice, Tadeu de Souza (Avante), were diplomated in the late afternoon of Monday, 12. The ceremony, conducted by Judge Jorge Lins, was held at the Regional Electoral Court of Amazonas (TRE-AM), located in the neighborhood Aleixo, South-Central Zone of Manaus. The solemnity marks the end of the entire electoral process and certifies that the candidate is able to take office to the position disputed during the election.

Speaking, Wilson Lima made an emphatic defense of the Brazilian electoral process, where he highlighted the performance of TRE-AM in covering the elections in the state, which over the past four years was the target of criticism of President Jair Bolsonaro, and highlighted the performance of President Jorge Lins in conducting a plea in a state with different logistics of other regions of the country.

“The Electoral Justice is the strongest instrument that we have in the consolidation of our democratic process. Because through the vote the will of the citizen prevails, and you conducted the electoral process calmly, without incident. Again, congratulations, is not for just anyone to do what is done in the Amazon, especially, when it comes to logistics, and the state was swift in the process of delivery of ballot boxes and counting the votes, giving transparency to the process and tranquility for those running in the election and the voter who deposit your vote on such an important day”, emphasized the governor.

In the second part of the speech, the governor-elect and newly appointed promised to continue the policies of the current government, improving the quality of life of the Amazon population, he considers as the great commitment in reason of being chosen as public agent. Wilson Lima reminded, still, that much has been done over the past four years and that are ending. Even having a pandemic, which left a trail of pain.

“We continue executing our projects to increase food security for the most vulnerable population of the state, to raise the indices of education and strengthen health services and to foster the generation of employment and income, strengthening the economy of the state. For this, we will continue to rely on the powers and the institutions that the people who voted for me and the people who did not vote for me. I am the governor of the State of Amazonas, I am the governor of those who voted, and those who did not vote for Wilson Lima. I am the governor of all”, said the governor.

Diplomation

The diplomation ceremony took place in alphabetical order. The 24 state lawmakers were the first to be empowered, then, the eight federal lawmakers, ending with the graduation of the governor and vice. The re-elected senator, Omar Aziz (PSD-AM), did not attend the event.

Accounts approved

On the last day 9, the plate Wilson Lima (União) and Thaddeus de Souza (Avante) had the campaign accounts approved without reservations by the Regional Electoral Court of Amazonas (TRE-AM). The order was signed by Judge Fabricio Marques. According to Marques, all the documents needed to compose, regularly, the bureaucracy of accountability are in accordance with the regime of electoral laws. 

“The candidate submitted all the terms of donation and electoral receipts required, demonstrating that what was declared in SPCE, in Donations Made to Candidates / Parties, is backed by valid documentation. Given the above, based on the opinion of the technical unit, as well as in harmony with the ministerial opinion, I judge approved, without reservations, the campaign accounts of the candidates elected to the positions of governor and vice, respectively, Wilson Miranda Lima and Tadeu de Souza Silva, under the terms of art. 74, item I, § 1, of Resolution TSE No. 23607/2019”, ordered Fabrício Marques.

TSE

According to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) “those who were elected to the positions of governor, senator, federal and state lawmaker or district will be diplomated by the Regional Electoral Courts (TREs) of the 26 states and the Federal District”. The ceremonies to hand over diplomas must be held by December 19.

According to the Electoral Code, graduation is part of a formal process conditioned to the inauguration of the respective positions, and those who are not certified are prevented from exercising their posts. The president and vice-president are certified by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), governors, vice-governors, senators and their substitutes, federal, state and district deputies are appointed by the Regional Electoral Court, mayors and city councillors and their substitutes are certified by the Electoral Boards.
