MANAUS – The expulsion of the actress and singer Maria from the reality show Big Brother Brazil for assaulting fellow confinement Natalia Deodato with a bucket on her head, during a dynamic of the tv show, caused great repercussion on the internet and conversation wheels. After the information was confirmed by Rede Globo, much was said on social networks about the aggressive behavior of the actress.

In view of all the repercussions, CENARIUM MAGAZINE talked to experts who analyzed the way the former BBB behaved in the confinement. For communication mentor and behavioral coach Daniela Cardoso, there is a way to express ourselves, expose our ideas and position ourselves without the need to be aggressive.

“We are born with a more compassionate nature. Nonviolent communication is here to show us this, that we are born with a more compassionate nature and that violent attitudes are learned, that is, we develop violent behavior in the environment in which we live, to survive in the face of various life situations, situations of prejudice. Therefore, these behaviors are learned. If we communicate in an aggressive way, yes, we can also learn to communicate in an assertive way”, says the specialist.

Clinical psychologist Luciely Botelho, in turn, details that many times, because they are people with strong personalities, this response comes from the brain with involuntary movement and aggressive attitudes, which can intentionally cause physical or psychological injury to another individual. “People with these attitudes have difficulty relating to each other or even controlling their own emotions, being seen as passionate, truthful people, or even with a strong personality”, she reports.

Alessandra Pereira, psychologist and specialist in cognitive behavioral therapy, also says that aggressive behavior is natural for any animal in confinement. “We have a higher stress level, which causes us to have automatic aggressiveness responses that are natural to this process. So, yes, we do develop more aggressive behavior.

Change in behavior

According to Daniela Cardoso, generally people act in an aggressive way when they feel threatened or irritated by something, and, for there to be a change in behavior, it is necessary that the person admits, recognizes and is aware that the way they are expressing themselves is a violent communication.

Emotional intelligence

Cardoso points out that communication is not simply what the person speaks or demonstrates, but it is the entire behavior. “Who has more aggressive behavior, communicates in an aggressive way. Who has impulsive, explosive behavior, will communicate in this way. So, it’s no use this person having speech techniques if he doesn’t have the emotional intelligence to know how to deal with his own emotions”, says Daniela, highlighting that in this Monday’s episode, Maria didn’t know how to control her emotions and had the intention of hurting Natalia.

“She (Maria) had the intention to hurt Natalia. Of course she didn’t intend to get kicked off the show, she was angry and she was frustrated about it and she needed to to soothe what she was feeling. She wanted to hurt the other and this is the will that we have when the human being that doesn’t have the process of emotional intelligence. He doesn’t know how to deal with emotions”, she stresses.

Alessandra Pereira explains that to maintain self-control in isolation situations it is necessary that the person has a level of emotional self-knowledge “to realize when they are adopting this type of behavior, when they are going a little over the edge”.

“Developing some strategies associated with spirituality or even associated with breathing techniques are interesting techniques that can help deal with stressful situations”, according to the psychologist.

Exposure

Clinical psychologist Luciely Botelho adds that people submit to participating in this style of program for various reasons. “They submit for various reasons, one of them is fame, or even being a millionaire, or it comes from a dream they want to fulfill. They end up facing or knowing their own limits, they all seek in some way positioning inside or outside their social life”, declares Botelho.

Alessandra Pereira agrees that people participate in this kind of program for the sake of fame, and adds that the goal is to guarantee some kind of social projection fostered in society as a whole.

“We see the social networks fomenting this, pushing people to appear, they appear, it converts into values, into money. So people are looking for that, after all, that is the main motto of a society like ours, neoliberal, capitalist society. So if you show up, you are seen, if you have some kind of social projection, you will earn more money, you will be called for more events, and all this reverts into financial gains”, concludes Alessandra.

Millionaire billing

According to information disclosed by UOL, the 22nd reality show, the one with the highest visibility on Brazilian television, Globo Network earned about R$ 600 million with commercials and advertising.

Brands like Americanas, Avon and PicPay bought the “Big” quotas, the most valuable ones, which cost R$ 91.9 million each. C&A, Heineken (with the brand Amstel), P&G and Seara will be the sponsors of the “Angel” quotas, the second line of sponsors with investments of R$ 69.4 million. In the last category of sponsors, called “Brother”, negotiated for R$11.8 million each, will be Above, a deodorant brand, as well as Engov, McDonald’s and QuintoAndar.

“To change the way I communicate, I have to first recognize, admit, be aware that the way I am expressing myself is a violent communication. I have to be conscious about it. This is a very difficult point, they have difficulties to understand, to accept, to admit that yes, they express themselves in a violent way, in an aggressive way with others”, details Cardoso.

Impulsive and aggressive attitudes can also occur when the person cannot deal with opposing opinions, as is the case of the ex-BBB, still according to the behavioral coach.

“Because I feel threatened in some way, because something has hurt me, something has made me angry. I don’t know how to deal with opinions contrary to mine, so I need to hurt you. So, this hurting the other, it comes not only in an attitude, in Maria’s case, in a “slap on the head”. This hurting the other to ease my own pain, my anger can also come in words. Irony is a form of non-violent communication. A shout, a push, a strong table bump, all of these are violent communication”.
