Dies fifth victim of explosion at shooting club in Manaus; patient was hospitalized

MANAUS – Maikson Alves Cristovan, 30, could not resist the injuries after the explosion at the Ponta Negra Shooting Club, which occurred on Sunday, 15, and died on the morning of Monday, 16, at the Hospital Pronto-Socorro 28 de Agosto, where he was hospitalized with 90% of his body burned. He had undergone surgeries.

With Maikson’s death, the number of victims of the accident rises to five. Besides him, the couple that owns the club, Nadier Pinheiro de Araújo and Ursula Rodrigues Macedo de Araújo, and the employees Dangelo and Francisco also didn’t survive.

The Secretary of Public Safety, Carlos Alberto Mansur, was in the establishment following the work. According to information from officers who were on site, the explosion would have happened in a power generator in the external area of the club.

According to sources heard by CENARIUM MAGAZINE, a gas leak may have been the cause of the explosion. “I know that, initially, problems in the generator were considered. I think ‘kicking’ the generator was pushing it a bit. The first investigation I would do would be in the gas pipes”, says a club member and electrical engineer heard by the reporter.
