Dnit may hire services for the construction of bridges on BR-319, after decrees of emergency situation

MANAUS – The National Department of Transport Infrastructure (Dnit) should start hiring services for construction of bridges that collapsed at kilometers 23 and 25 of BR-319, in Amazonas. The measure comes after the publication of emergency decrees of the State Government and the Union this week. In notes sent to CENARIUM MAGAZINE, the dates for the beginning of the works were not disclosed by the entity.

It is only after the publication of the emergency decree that the steps can be taken, as stated by the agency in a statement: From the emergency decree, the Dnit is authorized to carry out the hiring of services. According to the Dnit, the engineering project is in an advanced stage of completion. The dates for the beginning of the works have not been disclosed by the entity.

The ordinances that decree a situation of emergency refer to the crossings over the Curuçá River and the Autaz Mirim River, in Amazonas, which collapsed on September 28 and October 8 of this year, respectively.

Trafficability

Also according to the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (Dnit), the alternatives for the return of vehicular and pedestrian traffic on kilometers 23 and 25 of BR-319, in Amazonas, were defined after technical analysis in the region.

According to the agency, the situation of the bridge that collapsed over the Curuçá River was defined by the transportation by ferryboats. For the case of the structure that collapsed over the Autaz Mirim River, the autarchy will implement a dry passage, according to an excerpt from the agency’s note.

“The Dnit has already concluded the necessary accesses to the banks of Curuçá River to enable the operation of ferries, and to cross the Autaz Mirim River, the agency will implement a dry passage with 30 meters long. At the site, a drainage system and earthmoving services will be implemented. The expectation is to resume as soon as possible the trafficability on the highway”.

Emergency Decree

On Monday morning, 10, the governor of Amazonas, Wilson Lima, declared a situation of emergency in the municipalities of Careiro da Várzea, Careiro Castanho and Manaquiri, after the fall of the bridge over the Autaz Mirim River, which occurred on the night of Saturday, 8, at kilometer 12 of BR-319, which is located in Careiro da Várzea (88 kilometers from Manaus).

This is the second bridge on the BR-319 to collapse in ten days. On September 28, the bridge over the Curuçá River collapsed and left at least 4 people dead and 14 injured. A temporary bridge is being built at the site.

The collapse of the bridge over the Autaz Mirim River directly affects about 104,000 people who live in the region and depend on the road to work, study and live. According to the governor, the emergency situation decree was signed so that measures can be taken more quickly, without having to go through bureaucracies that, normally, would face.

“The emergency decree gives us the condition so that we don’t have, for example, to make a bidding process to hire transportation to get students to school or other important actions for the region”, he said.

Because of the disasters, a Crisis Committee was established by the State Government and receives the inclusion of the Secretaries of Health, Education, Rural Production, Superintendence of Ports and Shipping and Social Assistance, in addition to counting on the Regional Electoral Court of Amazonas, which will use the state support to transport the ballot boxes to cities in the interior for the 2nd round of elections this year.
