MANAUS – After months of production, ‘Cunhãs – Girls from the Amazon’ will release, on the 16th of this month, the first album of their career on the main music platforms. With eight songs, young Ana, Vitória, Manú, Lara and Yasmin unite in the album to value the Amazon Rainforest and show, through their voices, their own daily lives, customs and traditions. The singers will also perform together in two lives, on June 14th and 21st, starting at 9pm (EST), on YouTube.
The initiatives are part of two projects contemplated with the resources of federal law Aldir Blanc, promoted by the Government of Rondônia, through the State Superintendence of Youth, Culture, Sports and Leisure (Sejucel). The album and the lives were produced by Onda Producer. To CENARIUM MAGAZINE, the musician and cultural producer Teimar Martins talked about the first work of the girls.
“This is the girls’ first album. As a producer, it is a great joy and another opportunity to show the world the best of our local culture. It is another way to connect our children and young people with our customs, traditions, and to strengthen our consciousness of taking care of our environment, because all of this is being lost. For them I believe it is the realization of a dream, which is just beginning, for many good things are yet to come”, declared the musician.
Amazonian Culture
Composed of children and adolescents who live in the Gleba Maravilha Community, in the rural area of Porto Velho, Rondônia, the group ‘Cunhãs – Girls of the Amazon’ intends to continue carrying messages of forest preservation and appreciation of traditional Amazonian culture and customs. According to Teimar Martins, it was from nature that the inspirations for the album came.
“The inspirations are mainly our exuberant Amazonian nature, also the daily life, customs and traditions of the girls, as well as messages of environmental awareness. All songs are authorial, unpublished and with new clothes”
Teimar Martins, musician and cultural producer.
In addition to valuing the Amazonian culture, Teimar recalls, the production of the record seeks to raise the population’s awareness to take care of the environment.
“The main messages are to value our Amazonian culture, so that the next generations will be proud of who we are and what we have. And also to raise awareness about taking care of our planet, especially our ‘home’: the Amazon,” said cultural producer Teimar Martins.
About the lives, they have already been recorded and in a scenario where the girls live in nature and like to spend time. The group My Roots and the rapper North Seven will make a special appearance.
