AM Government starts process to reverse discounts for education servers

MANAUS – The Government of Amazonas sent to the Amazonas State Legislative Assembly (Aleam) on the night of Tuesday, 6, the process to reverse payroll discounts for education workers who were on strike since May 17. These discounts were applied due to absences recorded during the strike.

Besides the return of the discounts, the governor of Amazonas, Wilson Lima (União Brasil), also sent the readjustment of 8% in the category’s salary and the concession of the Complementary Regime for school secretaries and district and regional coordinators. The vertical progressions for 2,225 teachers and pedagogues will be carried out by means of a decree. The new payroll, with adjustments, is already being processed by the State Secretariat of Education and School Sports (Seduc).

Teachers returned to classrooms on Monday, 5, after accepting the adjustment of 15.19% proposed by the state government during a meeting held last Wednesday, May 31. The approval occurred after Wilson Lima said on Thursday, 2, that the strike was being prolonged for political motivations.

The education professionals should meet again to discuss the adjustment made by the state government. The information was confirmed by the Union of Education Workers of Amazonas (Sinteam) to CENARIUM MAGAZINE team. “We are waiting for the next conciliation hearing”, responded the union.

‘Political motivations’

Without naming names, Mr. Wilson Lima said in a press conference held on Thursday, 1, that some leaders of the strike movement are involved in party-political issues and aim to promote their images in the media through the paralysis.

“It is not fair that this (politics) keeps happening in the state of Amazonas. This kind of thing I will not allow to happen, that make political use of a movement of people who claim to represent teachers and who try to use the mass of maneuver education professionals “, said Mr. Lima, pointing out that students in the public network have already been harmed during the pandemic of Covid-19.
