The increase is significant, because from January 1st to March 31st last year only two cases were investigated as hate crimes due to gender issues.
During the same period, the increase in the rate of women violently killed, including those cases that were not treated as feminicides, was equally alarming: a 122.22% variation, since there were 20 cases since the first month of this year, against nine occurrences in the first quarter of 2021.
Feminicide crimes had already increased by 150% in the first two months of 2022, according to a previous survey, done at the end of March, by CENARIUM.

Barbaric example
The most recent tragic outcome that occurred in Rondônia was a classic example of feminicide: the man who does not accept the end of a relationship and would rather see his ex-mate dead than happy with someone else.
Rayane Ferreira Nascimento, 30, was murdered with three shots by her ex-partner, José Paula Goveia, because she refused to dance with him at a party. The crime happened in the early hours of last Sunday, 24th, in the rural area of Alta Floresta D’Oeste, almost 530 kilometers from Porto Velho. Rayane died on the spot and three other people were wounded; two with perforations in the leg and arm and another victim with an abdomen injury.
José fled by car, which was identified by the Military Police (PM) Tactical Force. The man was arrested in flagrante after fleeing from the Military Police, in a chase that took place until the urban perimeter of Alta Floresta. The gun used in the crime, of which he presented a Federal Registration Certificate, was seized: a Taurus 9 millimeter. The police also collected 12 intact and five deflated ammunitions.
Rayane and José Paula had been separated for about two months, after a relationship that lasted 12 years. The victim’s mother revealed WhatsApp conversations in which Rayane revealed that she was threatened by Jose for at least two years and that he said he would not accept the possibility of seeing her with another.
