MANAUS – The possibility of telling a chapter of the recent history of our state, with styles and arts, is the north of the exhibition ‘Cheia das Artes’ – (Full of Arts, in english), which brings together works of 20 visual artists who recorded the largest flood of the Rio Negro. The exhibition is taking place from Tuesday to Sunday, from 3pm to 8pm, at the Millennium Shopping gallery, Chapada neighborhood, Manaus South-Central zone.

The exhibition contextualizes the historical moment experienced by the population, in the daily life around the city center, where the waters invaded the asphalt, in the innumerous events that took place because of the unprecedented scenario that was formed in the region.

There are several artistic techniques applied, ranging from paintings and photographs to videos and poetry. Take advantage and get to know the space that is “Full of Arts”.

Inspiration

The exhibition’s curator, painter José Carlos Pinheiro, explained that the idea for the project arose when they glimpsed the dimension of the flood through photographs. “That’s when we had dimension. The flood was all over our region. From Alto Solimões to Pará. It was really a super flood”, remembers the curator.

So José invited artists from the cities of Tefé, Itacoatiara, and Parintins. Despite the idea of also being an itinerant project, the planning for the exhibition at the Shopping Millennium Mall was positive.

“It is very good because here there is a more rotating public. And people need to know what happened last year’s flood, but they forgot, so this here is, I would say, a memory revival for people”, he said.

Protocols

In the spaces managed by the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy, the presentation of a vaccination card at the entrance, the use of masks, temperature measurement, and a 1.5-meter distance between people are required.

The equipment goes through a sanitization process and has hand sanitizer totems at strategic points. The teams are also trained to ensure compliance with safety protocols and to avoid any kind of agglomeration.
