Video in which Manaus councilman yells at secretary viral and he is accused of ‘sexism’

MANAUS – Viralized, on the Internet, a video in which the councilman Manaus Rodrigo Guedes (We can) appears yelling at the municipal secretary of Education of the capital, Dulce Almeida, sister of the mayor of the city, David Almeida (Avante). The episode occurred on Wednesday, 26, during the reopening of the Municipal School General Aristides Barreto, located in the West Zone of Manaus.

During the ceremony at school, servers attributed to the councilman the resumption of the teaching unit. Dulce denied it and said that the parliamentarian did not send a letter to the city council on the subject. Rodrigo replied and said that the document was sent. The school was reopened after a recommendation of the Public Ministry of Amazonas (MP-AM). The councilman is in opposition to the mayor in the City Council of Manaus (CMM).

With the microphone in hand, a server – unidentified name – said: “We have to thank the councilman Rodrigo Guedes, was the only one who supported us in this fight”.

After the servant’s speech, the Municipal Secretary of Education retorted: “We never received a letter claiming”, said Dulce, referring to the requests about the reopening of the municipal school. After her speech, Dulce Almeida leaves the ceremony, goes into a room, and closes the door.

At that moment, Rodrigo Guedes appears in a raised voice and says: “No, no. I sent, yes, secretary. I sent a letter, yes (inaudible). I sent a letter to Semed (Secretaria Municipal de Educação). I will inspect (…)”.

Accusation of sexism

Dulce Almeida spoke out about the episode, in her social networks, and claimed to be a victim of sexism. “As a woman I felt abused, invaded by a councilman who shouted, shouted, took microphone. I had to stay inside a room, waiting, because I am a woman.”

The secretary of Education emphasized that councilman Rodrigo Guedes waited for her brother, the mayor of Manaus, David Almeida, to leave the school to confront her about the matter in public.

“The councilman even waited for the mayor to leave with all the security, with everyone, to hurl insults at me. It was personal for the simple fact (that I am a woman)”, Dulce Almeida concluded.

Councilman defends himself

Sought by CENARIUM MAGAZINE to comment on the accusation of machismo made by the Secretary of Education, Councilman Rodrigo Guedes said that his behavior “should not be treated as machismo”.

“It was not any kind of machismo, much less aggression. I reacted, because she, besides having lied, she is a public authority, she lied in front of everyone (…) Now, imagine, you, in front of everyone, being accused that you spent there, two years, lying, nobody is obliged to accept that,” he argued.
