Rede party calls for surveillance of children in antidemocratic acts in Manaus; complaint was verified by CENARIUM

The document uses as evidence the images captured by the photojournalist from CENARIUM MAGAZINE, Ricardo Oliveira, showing children sleeping under the sun, on sheets lying on the floor and on cardboards. The report also showed that some children were sleeping in tents without adult supervision.
Signed by the municipal president of the Network, Luiz Claudio dos Santos Corrêa, the request points out the measures that must be taken by the Guardianship Council in cases of omission, fault or abuse practiced by parents and guardians, typified in art. 98, paragraph II of the Child and Adolescent Statute.

“It is up to the Guardianship Council […] to watch over the fulfillment of the rights of children and adolescents, verify and supervise the situation of danger and discomfort to which children and adolescents are subjected, who are taken by their guardians to the site of the demonstration, deprived of hygiene conditions, neglect and food”, writes the president.
On Tuesday, 8, CENARIUM MAGAZINE contacted the coordinator of the West Zone Guardianship Council, Nilson Matos, who claimed not to have been informed about the conditions of the place where children are being kept in the demonstration and that it is necessary to hold a meeting with all coordinators, from all zones, since, according to him, although the protests are in the West Zone, “it is something that is mobilizing all of Manaus”.
The report also asked the Municipal Secretariat of Women, Social Assistance and Citizenship (Semasc) about what interventions will be made to ensure the safety and protection of children in the demonstration. The body stated that parents “should be aware of the situation they are imposing on their children”.

Integralism
In other images captured by the report, children appear in uniform as members of the Armed Forces and recall the Brazilian Integralist Movement, which emerged in Brazil in the 1930s, influenced by fascist ideals and practices, mentioned in the article “A Construção da Mitologia Integralista por meio da iconografia da Revista “Anauê” (1935-1937)”, by Caio Cézar Gabriel, specialized in Brazilian History at UnP.
In the article, the historian recalls that children were used as images of what would become the future of the country. “The children ‘participants’ of the movement were, in general, represented as the main pillar of a project of construction of the national future, that is, the integralist man,” he points out.
“These photographs of children are placed in a way to promote the idea that the construction of the perfect militant would begin with the child, not just any child, but the integralist child. At the same time, this same child would be a synthesis of the perfect individual for the construction of the Integral State”, writes the researcher in the article.
