Roberto Cidade is acclaimed president of the Amazonas Legislative Assembly

MANAUS – The State Representative Roberto Cidade (UB) was unanimously reelected president of the Amazonas Legislative Assembly (Aleam) for the biennium 2023-2024, in a vote held during the swearing-in ceremony of the elected parliamentarians, on Wednesday morning, 1. In his speech, Cidade said that, like in the last mandate, he will work for the union among the parliamentary colleagues and for the defense of the interests of the low income population.
“I got to the Presidency because of unity. Even with diverging interests, unity prevailed. I defended conciliation”, he declared. “We must carry out work focused on the most humble, the needy, those who need it most. There are more arms and legs ready to work”.
The lawmaker attributed the acclamation to the support of governor Wilson Lima, his party colleague, and the vice-governor, Tadeu de Souza. Cidade also thanked the welcome of União Brasil’s president, Pauderney Avelino, holder of the Secretariat of Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation (Sedecti).

“I want to congratulate each deputy, those who arrived and were reelected. May they have a successful mandate. That each debate, even the most heated, is aimed at making a difference among the most humble”, added the president of Aleam.
When asked by the reporter about possible measures to ensure the defense of indigenous peoples in the state, Cidade said that a new president of the Aleam Commission that deals with the subject will be chosen soon to advance propositions. “We will look at this issue with care, now that the issue has received national focus.

During the swearing-in ceremony, was set the composition of the Steering Committee that will coordinate the work in the state parliament during the 20th Legislature: Roberto Cidade (president), Carlinhos Bessa (PV, 1st vice president), Felipe Souza (Patriot, 2nd vice president), João Luiz (PRB, secretary general), Abdala Fraxe (Avante, 1st secretary), Joana Darc (UB, 2nd secretary), Cabo Maciel (PL, 3rd secretary), Dr. Gomes (PSC, corregidor and Sinésio Campos (PT, ombudsman).
