BOA VISTA (RR) – A research released by the Ministry of Tourism pointed out that Boa Vista is among the 25 destinations considered a trend for 2022. The capital of the least populated and populated state of Brazil was cited in the special journal “Tourism Trends”, from the Tourism Market Intelligence Network (Rimt).
With its mountain ranges and mountains, Roraima receives tourists from all over the world. The first tourist destination is located in the extreme north of the state and forms the triple border between Brazil, Venezuela and the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. Mount Roraima, which is over 2,800 meters high and has a 34 km² plateau – the form of relief consisting of a raised surface – is a unique place.

Boa Vista is the only Brazilian capital located completely above the Equator, with an estimated population of 436,000 people in 2021, according to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The place is also known as the “birthplace of Macunaíma”, the “anti-hero” protagonist of the book published in 1928 by Mário de Andrade.
Rio Branco Park
One of the main postcards of Boa Vista is the Rio Branco Park. Inaugurated in 2020, the tourist complex Parque do Rio Branco is also a social work. It was built on the banks of the Rio Branco, which bathes the State of Roraima, and is located in the Francisco Caetano Filho neighborhood, an area that suffered annually from flooding caused by heavy rains, the intense flow of drug traffic, and prostitution. When the construction work started, more than 350 vulnerable families who lived in the area were compensated and relocated.
Several tourist attractions make up the site. One of the remarkable and unmissable experiences that tourists can have when visiting the Rio Branco Park is the Edileusa Lóz Belvedere, which is 120 meters high, the highest observation point in Boa Vista and the Northern Region, providing a 360° panoramic view of the entire city. On one side, all the capital’s architecture, and on the other, the Rio Branco riverfront and other natural attractions. The top of the observation deck is 250 square meters, with a glass floor and guardrail.
In the park there is also the largest “Amazonian Savanna” in Boa Vista, with elements of Amazonian fauna and flora, the half-moon shaped water mirror, an artificial beach, sports courts, sidewalks for hiking, artistic murals, with 34 paintings by regional artists, and a giant work painted by internationally renowned artist Eduardo Kobra.
Boa Vista transformed
Another tourist site that is a reference in the capital is the Ayrton Senna Complex. Those who walk by the site have no idea that it used to be a huge ditch, more than three kilometers long. The work to transform the space began during the first administration of former mayor Teresa Surita. Upon leaving the International Airport, visitors can visit the Triangle Square, the Water Square, the Fábio Marques Paracat Square, and the Velia Coutinho Stage.
There are about two kilometers of the most varied options for those who enjoy leisure, sports, skateboarding, biking, or simply want to walk and do physical activities in the open air. The space is also especially designed for early childhood: the little ones have playgrounds with rubberized floors and interactive and challenging toys, ranging from swings, horsies, worm rides, slides, snail rides, in addition to inflatable toys, jumper cars, electric cars, and others.
For those who want to get to know the capital, it is possible to arrive by air or land, via BR-174, the federal highway that connects Boa Vista to Manaus and Venezuela. The cuisine is also one of the main attractions for visitors. Throughout the Ayrton Senna Complex, there are many goodies at the kiosks, such as the sandwich called ‘aloprado’, named after the large and stuffed sandwich. Other options for tourists are damorida and paçoca, typical Macuxi dishes.
