‘Aggressive when contradicted’, says police after arresting man accused of crimes against women in Amazonas

MANAUS – Arrested by the Civil Police of Amazonas (PC-AM) on Tuesday, 22, after two months on the run, Kzam Matos Martins became “aggressive when contradicted”, said the delegate in charge of the investigation, Torquato Mozer. The suspect is investigated for committing crimes of a sexual, psychological and physical nature against women.

Kzam Martins was arrested at the residence of relatives, in Carajuru Street, Jorge Teixeira neighborhood, East of Manaus. He was wanted since 16 September this year, when he had remand in custody. So far, according to the delegate, eight victims have filed complaints against the suspect. The crimes include bodily injury, threats and rape.

“From the moment the woman says no, that she exclaimed her will, he changes his entire behaviour, treating women aggressively”, Mozer explained.

So far, eight victims have already registered a police report (BO) against Kzam Matos Martins and the delegate responsible for the investigation made an appeal for women to lose the fear of denouncing. “This is the only way we will have a larger number of procedures against this national. This way we can make him stay longer in prison”, Mozer asked.

Investigation

The identification of the place where the suspect was hiding was only possible after he participated, in early November, virtual hearing. By the characteristics of the site in the video, which resonated on the internet, the PC-AM came to the address where the arrest was made.

“The day he attended a virtual hearing, we noticed a green background and that green background has a characteristic painting, a different colour of house painting, then we came to the conclusion that, probably, the front of the house would also have a different painting, a different colour, out of the standard”, told the delegate.

“We had ten to fifteen houses there, which we had to certify, but we couldn’t serve an arrest warrant in ten houses. So we were filtering and we managed to find a residence, with a flashy painting, with green very similar to the image. We checked that house and got information that there was a very suspicious movement”, added the delegate.

Kzam Matos Martins already has passage in the police for domestic violence and swindling. For hosting and hiding a fugitive from justice, relatives of the suspect may still be held criminally responsible. After going through the procedures in the PC-AM, the suspect will be available to the Justice.

Understanding the case

The investigation for the assaults began after a young woman, 22 years old, was assaulted for refusing to kiss Kzam Matos Martins. According to the victim, Kzam became upset with the refusal, assaulted her and threw her out of a moving car. With the report on social networks, other women began to report the assaults.

Another victim had the aggression recorded on video by the security camera in the car park of a floating Manaus. A woman in a red bikini appears accompanied by a boy. Another man, wearing a blue shirt, approaches and, after a brief conversation, assaults the victim with a punch. According to police, the aggressor was Kzam Matos Martins.
